Step 1 - Identify the challenge
Recognizing the need to fix something is a huge part of the equation. No-one better knows your issues than you or your employees. Challenges can range from simple redundant work to the need to replace a paper-based process.
Questions to consider might be:

  • Is there something done redundantly that a web server should be doing for you?
  • Would having a single or authoritative source of data reduce wasted time updating or locating what's current?
  • Could a distributed workforce be more effective if they had access to information from the field?
  • If you could schedule content to be collected or distributed, to whom and what would it be?
  • If the cost of the frustration exceeded the cost of developing the tool, what priority would you give it?

In many cases this step is to identify the right BAT 'League' that start with.

Browser Administratable Tools (BATs) come in a variety of sizes and shapes, each designed for a special league of players. We've catagorized them by 'leagues' for quick reference. A comprehensive comparison can be
